Internal API integrations for the Vermont Department of Transportation

DreamFactory is contracted with the Vermont Department of Transportation (DOT) to field a robust and secure API Generation solution across both an air-gapped environment and traditional on-premises environment. The Vermont DOT has in production both 1970s technology and modern systems. As they pursue a multiyear modernization plan, systems are slowly being modernized and updated. Right now, DreamFactory is connected to their on-premises IBM S370 mainframe and also a modern Oracle database. Those two data streams are fed into DreamFactory via separate database connections, and then DreamFactory joins those datasets and creates a secure REST API, which their DMV front-end application connects with for data updates and processing. As Vermont slowly updates and changes its architecture, the system architects continue to use DreamFactory by connecting to new systems and generating new REST APIs as necessary.
