Internal APIs powering National Institutes of Health (NIH) Grant Application system
DreamFactory is contracted with the National Institutes of Health to connect and generate APIs for their grant application system in an on-premises government environment. The NIH Grant Application system was designed with Microsoft SQL Server databases for the process of storing and processing grants through their process. Recently, leadership has asked for the ability to query historical data and run analytics against that historical data, but this task would have required a full re-architecting of the systems. By using DreamFactory API generation technology to interact with each of their databases, business intelligence analysts can directly query the database via secure REST API and build the necessary datasets for their research. The use of DreamFactory saved NIH the cost of a completely new system and sped up the agency's ability to deliver insight on applications.
